Associate Director of Research

Nanetta Payne, Ph.D., is associate director for research. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a behavioral scientist. Payne earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Jackson State University. She completed an internship and postdoctoral training in the area of child and adolescent psychology at Brown University.

Payne has spent her career working with children and families to reduce child health disparities. She embraces community-based participatory research (CBPR) because of the importance it places on the community’s role in research development and dissemination.

Her overall vision is to create an environment that promotes science through teaching, research, and service to urban populations, communities of color, and the underserved.
